Serthat is a Tibetan pasturing area located in the northeast of Ganzi Tibet Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan.The Serthar Buddhism Institute, founded in 1980 , has become on of the largest and most influential centers for the world. Nearly everyday , Tibetan monks and nuns wearing blood_red robes arrive at this distant out pose after a long trek through a forbidding range of mountains. 四川甘孜藏族自治州色達縣喇榮五明佛學院，是藏區最大的喇嘛大學，有學生6000人，免學費，學員要自負生活費及住宿，整個山頭布滿密密麻麻的紅色小木屋便是學生宿舍，煞是壯觀。
