Mälaren (Maelaren, Malaren) is the third biggest lake in Sweden. Maelaren consists of bays, sounds and gulfs and has many islands in it. The number of islets with an area smaller than 1 hectare is over 7800. 6500 of these islets have an area less than 100 m².
