Mt Yotei Crater Edge - Summer
Hokkaido

Mt Yotei 1898 m is a beautiful mountain and the view from the edge of the crater is imperessive - this pano was taken just after all of the snow had melted which for me was a bit of a problem because i ran out of water on the hike !

Down below to the west you can see the hut which is open to hikers in the summer months. I hiked up the previous day and lugged up all my camera gear, food and water and stayed in the hut overnight...i was hoping there would still be some water in the crater but no.

Anyway i got up around 2 am and hiked up to the edge of the crater and then over to the north east side to watch the sunrise.

Was a beautiful morning but not exactly what i had in mind as there was a cloud inversion and i couldn't really see anything besides clouds - the tip of Mt Annupuri was just poking through to the the east.

Technically i'm not that happy with this pano as i had problems with the Nadir , sun and the exposure but though what the hell has been sitting on my hard drive for nearly 2 years and though might as well publish it.

Recommend hiking it in early June if you are a thirsty hiker like me !

Mt Yotei apparently last erupted in 1050 BC.
