Monteriggioni is located just north of Siena in Tuscany. The medieval complex from the 13th century lies on a hill and is surrounded by an almost complete city wall. Once it served Siena as a northern defensive post against the rivals from Florence. Today it is a small tourist resort with few houses, restaurants and souvenir shops.

The West coast is bathed from the Ligurian and Tyrrhenian Sea; here we can find the islands of the Tuscan archipelago including the island of Elba. The regional capital is Florence and the other provinces are: Arezzo, Grosseto, Livorno, Lucca, Massa, Pisa, Pistoia, Prato and Siena.
