The lake is located in Panguipulli Panguipulli commune in the province of Valdivia, Chile. At its western end is Panguipulli, while the opposite side is the town of Choshuenco. The lake drains into the lake Panguipulli Riñihue through Enco River.

Part of a Valdivia basin ranging from Corral Bay to San Martin de los Andes in Argentina. Ie is transcordillerana and binational. The lakes in the basin are nine: Nonthue Lácar and in Argentina, Pirehueico, Neltume Calafquén Pullinque, Panguipulli and Riñihue. For some authors formed part of Chilean Patagonia, but is north of the traditional boundary within Reloncaví.
