The Mauna Kea hotel was built on the beautiful bay at Mauna Kea after Laurance Rockefeller spotted the bay from the air and swam in it's waters. Built in 1965 it was the most expensive hotel ever made. To this day it is impeccably maintained and is considered one of the top luxury destinations in Hawaii.
