Standing in the middle of Route 1 (Þjóðvegur 1) a few minutes before midnight, just east of the bridge crossing the Jökulsá river between Skógasandur and Sólheimasandur. There wasn't much traffic to dodge, even on Iceland's main road, allowing enough time to comfortably shoot this HDR panorama.

Route 1 is the ring road (Hringvegur) which encircles Iceland, and at this point it seems particularly desolate as it cuts an arbitrary line across the obsidian volcanic sands between Mýrdalsjökull and the sea.
