Bogota, Bogota Capital District officially abbreviated Bogotá, DC (during the Spanish colonial period and from 1991 to 2000 called Santafé de Bogotá)  is the capital of the Republic of Colombia and the department of Cundinamarca. Capital District is organized as enjoying autonomy in the management of their interests within the limits of the Constitution and the ley. Unlike other districts of Colombia, Bogota is a first-order territorial entity in Colombia, with the powers administrative law gives the Departamentos.8 it consists of 20 villages and is the epicenter of political, economic, administrative, industrial, artistic, cultural and tourist country.9 11 October 12

 
It is located in central Colombia, in the natural region known as the savannah of Bogota, which is part of cundiboyacense plateau, mountain formation located in the Eastern Cordillera of the Andes. It is the third highest capital in South America (after La Paz and Quito), at an average of 2625 meters above sea level. It has the world's largest wilderness, located in the town of Sumapaz.
 
According to the 2005 national census data extrapolated to 2010, Bogota has a population of 7,363,782 habitantes. has a length of 33 km from south to north, and 16 km from east to occidente. As the capital, home to the largest organizations hierarchy of the executive (presidential palace), legislative (Congress of Colombia) and judicial (Supreme Court, Constitutional Court, Council of State and the Supreme Judicial Council).
