The Phongola Picnic Spot is located along the banks of the Pongola river, which forms the Northern boundary of the Ithala Game Reserve.

The picnic spot has wooden tables and benches located under large, shady trees, on a small island along the river that is accessed by a strong, steel swing bridge. There are also bathrooms at the car park.

Visitors can take a short walk down to the beautiful Pongola river from the picnic spot.
