Old St. Peter's is an icon and a unmatched standout in The Dalles, Oregon. It is on the west side of the city. St. Peters was the Catholic church in the Dalles when my father was at boarding school there in the late 1930s. He would fire up the wood furnace at 4AM on Sundays for the morning mass. Notice the large processing facility behind and to the right next to the Columbia River. That is the Oregon Cherry Co-op. They are one of the worlds largest processors of cherries. The Dalles is famous for cherries, apples and pairs, and lately beer and wine.
