Ice cold, clear night in the Karanga camp on the southern slopes of Kilimanjaro in about 4000 m altitude. From the valley below illuminate the lights of Moshi and Arusha in the south up to the west. In the north, the shadowy summit of Uhuru peak is visible with its glacial tongues. And above all, a starry sky stretched with innumerable bright stars.
