The first church built by Abbot Adelardus II, went shortly after its inception in flames. Around 1130 there arose a Romanesque church, but there was a Gothic church built right through. In the 14th century In the 15th century the nave was rebuilt in the 16th century, the chapel there. The tower, which had collapsed in 1668, was replaced in 1842 to a design by L. Roelandt. The half bays at the collapse was destroyed, was never rebuilt.

Gothic choir and nave are of brick on a limestone plinth. The sandstone square western tower, flanked by portals, neogothic.

The furniture is mainly neo-Gothic: the white marble high altar and the altars in the Lady Chapel and the Holy Cross Chapel, the gilded shrines of St. Trudo, the choir stalls.

Was in the attic above the vault caps inserted later discovered a wall painting from the late 14th century.
