Dirty Devil River, Hite, Utah, USA
Utah

The Fremont River and Muddy Creek join near Hanksville, Utah, to form the Dirty Devil River.  The Dirty Devil reaches its confluence about 80 miles downstream (or 40 miles as the crow flies) with the Colorado River near Hite, Utah.  There, the Colorado pours into the northern arm of Lake Powell.  Members of John Wesley Powell's 1869 expedition named the river for its muddy waters and unpleasant smell.

Today, drivers can enjoy the river's scenic canyon from several vantage points along Highway 95 near Hite, Utah.
