Ayot St Lawrence is a pretty village in Hertfordshire not far from Welwyn Garden City. It is famous for its association with George Bernard Shaw who lived there from 1906 until his death in 1950 and for its Norman church, for which which the village is named. The church is for the most part a ruin although the tower has survived reasonably well as can be seen from this panorama.
