Railway Viaduct
England

This is one of two panoramas of the same subject including the same patient pony, but this one taken in June.

The Digswell Viaduct was inaugurated by Queen Victoria in 1850. This 39 arch engineering fete is built across the Mimran valley and carries main line trains to the North of Britain from Kings Cross Station some 20 miles away in London. By completion it cost almost £700,000 a lot of money in those days but today just enough for two moderate size houses in nearby Welwyn Garden City.

I can't see it from where I live in Welwyn Garden City but I can certainly hear the express trains whizzing past late at night.

Note to train spotters: It is a real train, sort of, but it belonged elsewhere.
