The marketplace is the spiritual center of Ellwangen. The architectural highlight is the Basilica of St. Vitus and the Protestant town church. A special feature is the so-called ecumenical door, which connects the town church directly with the basilica. Around the market square are mansions with magnificent facades, which are unfortunately not to be seen here due to the weekly market.
