Black Mountain, Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
Utah

Downtown Salt Lake is clearly visible from our perch along the Black Mountain ridge.  Mount Ogden, 40 miles to the north, is now visible above the west ridge of City Creek Canyon.  Below our feet, the rocks have transitioned from the loose pebbly orange-brown conglomerate to a orange lichen covered dark gray limestone.  We're also moving out of the deciduous zone of scrub oak, maple and mahogany into the zone of firs and pines.
