Cobra lily patch [4]
California

Located near Kangaroo Lake, California by the Cabin Meadow road turnoff is this meadow featuring this large patch of cobra lilies (Darlingtonia californica), probably the largest I have found to date.  They are carnivorous insect-eating plants native to the Klamath Mountains region of Northern California & Southern Oregon.  A favorite among local botanists, these plants need soil rich in red peridotite with a constant source of water from a spring or ground seep.
