The old abandoned mining road leading to Hole in the Ground Mine west of Smith River, California.  Near to the mine the road gets heavily overgrown by cobra lilies (Darlingtonia californica) growing in high abundance along this stretch.  They are carnivorous insect-eating plants native to the Klamath Mountains region of Northern California & Southern Oregon.  A favorite among local botanists, these plants need soil rich in red peridotite with a constant source of water from a spring or ground seep.  Most botanical areas in this region are specifically for the preservation of this plant.
