The scenery of Galyfa dominated by bare mountains that surround it. From the ridges seem the sea and tourist places in north and many villages in the west and the city of Heraklion, while the fertile parts olive groves, shrubs, sage and marjoram. The village offers magnificent views of the surrounding hills, in the spring filled with countless colors and fragrances of all kinds of flowers.

The Galyfa inhabited since Minoan times as indicated by anecdotal findings in the village and the nearby peak sanctuaries, as in Smari and the Diocese.
