This panorama was taken in the narrow slot canyon portion of Matkatamiba Creek. Notice the crystal clear water as it flows across the transient limestone gravel in the pool a few yards upstream. The water in this part of the slot canyon flows constantly from a small spring not far upstream. The constant flow allows the formation and growth of the green algae on the stream bed and in the slow pools.
Turn 180 degrees in the slot canyon and look downstream. As the water flows away around the corner, look up to the far horizon at the bright pinkish-white cliffs. Those cliffs are across the Colorado River from here.
