Koktobe
Kazakhstan
The most beautiful and amazing places of Almaty and Kazakhstan. It’s the Kok-tobe Mountain - the highest point of the city which is situated on high of 1100 meters above sea level. You can get an eyeful of the mountains moving up on a rope-way in air bus. The top commanded an amazing view for the mountains and the city. Here is especially beautiful in the night when the city is lighted by multicolored lights. The rope-way rises above the oldest part of a city full of gardens which local people call “Compote”. The reason is the streets’ names in this district: Cherry, Pear, Grape, etc. The 350 meters long television tower overlooks at the foot of the Kok- tobe Mountain. It is one of the highest towers in the world if counts from sea level. The Verigina Mountain or the Kok-tobe and its suburbs have entered into the first films about Almaty city. «Our Lovely Doctor» by S.K.Aimanov (1957), «Welcome to Alma-Ata» by A.G.Nugmanov (1975), «The Mountains and The City» by J.B.Sik (1976), «The Lights of the evening Alma-Ata», «The City of Apples’ Sunrises», "Alma-Ata" by V.P.Tatenko (1978-1981). The Kok-tobe Mountain is not only the magic of the mountains, fresh air and freedom feeling, it is also the place of friends meetings, enamored walks, rest with children and simply having a good time.
