The "Crystal Palace" is a glass and metal structure located in Madrid's Parque del Retiro. It was built in the 19th century to exhibit flora and fauna from the Philippines. The construction is made entirely of glass set in an iron framework on a brick base decorated with ceramics. The structure had been designed in a way that would allow it to be re-erected on another site. The palace had remained on the original site, next to a lake in the park, and it is no longer used as a greenhouse but for tourists and art exhibitions.
