The first ship from gothenburg "The Aurora" was built in 1984 and for more than 100 years the ship building industry at Lindholmen was a huge part of Gothenburg.  In 1933 this was considered to be the largest ship building site in the world. The new Eriksberg was built between 1940 and 1948 west of the old construction site.
