Die Düne von Pyla (La Dune du Pilat) an der französischen Atlantikküste bei Arcachon ist die größte Wanderdüne Europas. Man schätzt, dass sie aus etwa 60 Millionen Kubikmetern Sand besteht. Die Düne ist ca. 117 Meter hoch, 2.700 Meter lang und bis zu 500 Meter breit. Auf der westlichen Meerseite hat sie eine Steigung zwischen 5° und 20°; die Ostseite fällt noch steiler ab: zwischen 30° bis 40°.
