Three fires seen from Redlands, California
California
September 10th, 2024, saw three major fires burning at once in Southern California, with the smoke plumes from all three visible from this small hilltop near Panorama Point in the city of Redlands. To the north, San Bernardino County’s "Line" fire was five days old but was still actively burning and threatening mountain communities from Running Springs to Big Bear Lake. The towering pyrocumulus clouds visible to the west were from the two-day old "Bridge" fire near Mount Baldy in Los Angeles County. The massive cloud of smoke enveloping the sky from the south was from Orange County's day-old "Airport" fire. All three fires were traveling fast, with difficult mountain terrain, erratic winds, and high temperatures challenging those tasked with trying to contain them.
