St. Peter's Gate at the Peter and Paul Fortress

The first Triumphal Gates in St. Petersburg.

This monument is part of the Peter and Paul Fortress curtain wall. Peter's Gate is the unique construction of its kind preserved in St. Petersburg since Peter the Great.

The sculptural decoration included another 7 statues, of which the central figure was the apostle Peter with the keys. In 1941, Peter's gates were damaged by shelling and then restored in 1951.
