sinkholes
West Bank
Sinkholes: eroded rocks due to internal dissolution triggered by the retreating waterbed, as the nearby dead sea recedes several 10s centimeters per year. The rocks become full of cavities, which create these craters in surface as they collapse. Filed trip during the ITN FLOWTRANS (www.flowtrans.net) field trip.
