Observation Point, Zion National Park, Utah

Observation Point provides a spectacular view of Zion Canyon looking towards the Southwest. Angels Landing is prominent in the center of the bend. If you look carefully to the left you can see the switchbacks of the East Rim Trail that ascend 2148 feet over four miles from the canyon to Observation Point. We hiked in on an easier approach, the East Mesa Trail which was 6.6 miles round trip. Unsettled mid-May weather provided unseasonably cool temperatures and dramatic brooding clouds.
