Landwasser Viadukt 4

The Landwasser Viaduct is situated between Thusis and St. Moritz on the Albula railway line, which is 63 kilometers long. It was built between March 1901 and October 1902. It is a spectacular construction with its pillars 65 meters high and 142 meters long, stretching in a curve along the Landwasser Valley and then entering a tunnel near Filisur.

It is one of the most elegant bridges in Grisons, which since July 2008 has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site as the first of three railway lines across the world. The Landwasser viaduct is a viaduct of the Rhaetian railway.

The Landwasser River is a 30.5 kilometer river in the canton of Graubünden, Switzerland. Its origin was Lake Davos before it was transformed into a power plant reservoir.

Nowadays it is extended by the Flüelabach stream at its source and changes its name to Davos Dorf.
The city of Davos is the largest, highest and only larger village on the banks of the Landwasser River, which flows into the Albula near the village of Filisur after passing through the arches of the Landwasser Viadukt.
