Cortona, Palazzo Comunale and Piazza della Repubblica

In ancient times, Cortona was founded by the Umbri. Later on it was occupied by the Etruscans, the Romans, Goths etc. It finally became part of the Kingdom of Italy. Cortona is a very fine town that kept its medieval character. It is located on a hillside and the streets in the old centre are narrow and steep.
