For this shot I chose an unusual point that is not overlooking an amazing view but is certainly interesting from a technical point of view, with strong contrasts between light and shadow and with a lot of detail due to the surrounding vegetation.
To get a good balance I worked each portion of the panoramic image by developing the RAW file prior to the lights and then to the shadows, then combining the two results in a unique HDR fusion. The final image was further corrected with a double mask in photoshop filtering the layers with multipy or screen methods acting only in the areas still too light or dark.
