The Giant Koala
Grampians National Park

The Giant Koala in Dadswells Bridge is one of over 150 Big Things in Australia. The locality was named after T.W. Dadswell who constructed the bridge over William Creek. In 1988 the roadhouse owner commissioned sculptor Ben van Zetten to construct the giant koala as a tourist attraction. Made of cold-cast bronze, set on a steel frame the structure weighs over 12 tonnes. Dadswells Bridge is a gateway to the northern Grampians, a scenic national park in the Wimmera region of Victoria.
