Stone-pit with stone spheres
Slovakia

The first mention of the stone sphere is 1995. Old quarry is located on the border of Czech and Slovak Republic, in Turzovská Highlands (Western Beskydy). Location Megoňky, together with the nearby city Klokočov a continuous loop with the occurrence of stone Gül. These are not the largest stone Gül site in Europe. Regular spherical objects can be seen in the quarry stone walls and its surroundings.

Initially, they contain about 30 spheres with a diameter of 25 to 300 cm, but unfortunately many people take them and are now adorn many gardens.
The biggest and dominant stone sphere with a diameter of 3 m are now located in the quarry. The body is made of coarse ball improved with flint within 2-4 cm, the surface of the sphere is made up of fine-grained finish. The sphere is divided ideal cut and two cuts. According to geologists could arise ball "tension and turning in the rock," according to other experts, is a spherical implosion of the rocks.
West of the dominant sphere was only recently bare sphere with smooth surface, its visible part is 25 cm high. The diameter is estimated to be approximately 85 cm. The stone walls are more objects, high on the north wall can be seen "bed" of falling spheres with an estimated average of 5 m. In the whole region Kysuce are improved with a variety of materials, there are many exotic minerals, which are near or not far around. This entire site is geologically very interesting.
Stone balls are visibly stored 1,5-2 m below today's surface that perfectly replicate. Originally coincident with the horizontal surface, gradually were recorded mud and sand. In horotvorných processes were highlighted along with the surrounding rock into the present position. In subsequent landslides and gradual erosion of rock are obnažované.
Material of the composite sphere, the tables by volume weight of approximately 2 tons. After the conversion is the largest mass of them for 25 to 30 ton!
Upper hemisphere, are exposed to water and frost, are damaged, the lower parts are protected in good condition with a fine finish. The whole area belongs to the Highlands Turzovská the hardest as to the climatic conditions. This probably accelerates the gradual disintegration of those interesting objects.
