Little Insurgent
Warsaw

The Little Insurgent (Maly Powstaniec) is a statue in Warsaw, located at the ramparts of the Old Town. The statue is of a young boy wearing a helmet too large for his head and holding a rifle. It represents the child soldiers who fought and died in the Warsaw Uprising. The statue is reputed to be of a fighter who went by the pseudonym of Antek, who was killed around the 8th August 1944. Antek was aged 13. The statue was designed by Jerzy Jarnuszkiewicz.
