北岭山是中心城区的“市肺”，肇庆市决定建设北岭山城市森林公园，使之成为林业科普基地、生态旅游景区，与七星岩景区互为衬托、交相辉映。据介绍，将在北岭山构建以养生、休闲、保健为主调的绿色自然景观带。主要以绿化、美化和综合开发为重点，按照生态学和美学的要求，顺应自然规律进行林分改造，选择叶色、花色灿烂的优质阔叶树种进行混交，体现南亚热带物种的多样性，展现北岭山一年四季不同的绚丽颜色。在开发建设北岭山城市森林公园和休闲景观带的基础上，整合资源，完善配套设施，建设高品位的鼎湖山-北岭山-七星岩的大型景区
