미국 네바다주와 아리조나주의 경계에 있는 후버댐은 경제공황의 위기를 해결하기 위해 건설되었다.

후버댐은 높이 300미터, 폭 300미터에 달하는 좁은 협곡에 건설되었으며, 이로 인해 엄청난 규모의 미드호(Mead Lake)가 생성되었고, 국립레크레이션 지역으로 지정받았다.

이 댐의 물과 전기가 라스베이거스를 건설하게 한 동력이라고 할 수 있다. 사진에서 보이는 것은 취수탑
