Giebelstadt - Messerschmitt BF 109 left side view
Franconie

The airfield in Giebelstadt has existed for 80 years. In 1928, the Wehrkreiskommando Munich was said to have searched for a suitable location for an airfield. The airfield was officially opened on September 17, 1936. At the beginning of the 1940s, Giebelstadt disappeared from the maps for reasons of secrecy - since 1941 the airfield was the secret base for the development of new aircraft such as the jet fighter ME-262. We are showing the ME BF 109 - the Red 7.
