Belvedere Residence - Portmeirion
Wales

Belvedere, one of many buildings at Portmeirion in North Wales. This building was erected in 1960. Portmeirion was designed by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, an almost theatrical and certainly magical architectural experiment.

Sir Clough Willams-Ellis modelled Portmeirion on the Italian fishing village, Portofino. Portmeirion was also the setting for the TV series 'The Prisoner' starring the late Patrick McGoohan and despite the very different aims of Williams-Ellis and McGoohan, it was a partnership that over time, served them both well.
