Abdulaziz Khan Madrassah and Ulugbek Madrassah

Medersa Abdullaziz Khan is an ancient Madrasa (or Madrassa) of Bukhara in Uzbekistan. Like all the historical part of the city, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It owes its name to its founder, Abdoullaziz Khan (1614-1683) who built it in 1652-1654. It is part of an architectural ensemble with the Oulough Beg Medersa (1417), just across the east from the Jewelers' Bazaar. Its exterior decoration is partly unfinished because the khan was dethroned while the decoration of the madrassah was not completed and the architect ended the site.
The Ulugh Beg madrasa is the oldest, as well as the first madrasah built by Ulugh Beg in Bukhara in Uzbekistan.
It was built in 1417 and is considered the oldest in Central Asia. In the country there are also other madrasas who bear the same name because it was the timurid sovereign who proposed its construction. It is the only monument of the Timurid era in Bukhara.
The condition of the building is not good and would need to be restored. However, the beautiful blue tiling is visible. There is also an inscription showing the sovereign's approach to life: "The search for knowledge is the duty of every follower of Islam, man and woman". It is said that there was also another inscription present, which persisted in the sixteenth century and said: "May the doors of God's blessing open on a circle of peoples, experts in the wisdom of the book".

More About Asia

Asia is the biggest continent on Earth, a darling little gem floating around in space.Hm, what is Asia? Who's in on it?China and India are safe bets for Asian nations. Korea, Japan, Thailand, you're fine.Europe? No. Europe would sort of be on the "Asian continent" if not for those pesky Ural mountains dividing things up in the middle, and then also the whole lineage of kings and wealth and nations and the EU and all that "give me my respect" stuff.Russia would probably be happiest as its own continent, so for now we'll leave it in "Eurasia" and just hope the natural gas supplies keep flowing.Pakistan and Afghanistan are dang close to Asia, but politically they show up in "Middle East" news stories an awful lot. Verdict: Eurasia.I guess we'll actually have to consider everything from Turkey on eastward to be "Eurasian", although the moniker seems overlappitory of the territory. The Asian economy is now officially raging like a wild furnace of lava that consumes everything in its path. Japan has had the largest individual economy in Asia for decades, but it is forecast that both India and China will outstrip Japan within twenty years.China is the largest holder of United States debt and is positioned to become the world's next superpower, provided that Godzilla doesn't return and decide to stomp everybody back into the Shang Dynasty.Text by Steve Smith.
