Spring arrives in Niseko and with it the start of the local rafting season.This panorama was taken on the Shiribetsu river on outskirts of Niseko town.

The rafting courses in the Niseko area are generally divided into to courses, the spring course and the summer course. After most of the snow melts in June the spring course quietens down and the summer course opens up.

The snow capped Mt Yotei is just visible through the trees. I imagined shooting this type panorama on a rock in the middle of the river but that seemed a bit risky.....and the water was freezing - you can notice the rafters are all wearing drysuits. I'll try another version in summer in a more picturesque setting
