Suone Heido Bistine Pass 8 Switzerland
Switzerland

Hiked along the bisse Heido in the Nanz Valley. The "bisses" or Suonen are traditional irrigation channels built several centuries ago to water the cultivated land with previous glacier water.

The Suone Heido was first mentioned in 1305. There is a wonderful trail following this water channel.

I took the Postauto to Visperterminen and the chairlift up to Giw.

Here I have already left the Nanz Valley and crossed the Bistine Pass. The trail now leads downhill towards the Simplon Pass.

Down there you can see the Simplon Pass road.

The weather begins to mend.
