Ruins of Midley Church, Romney Marsh, Kent
England
Midley (Middle Isle) was an ancient settlement on an island in the River Rother (Limen). A medieval settlement which must have been reasonably wealthy as a stone built church was erected. Partly destroyed and silted up by The Great Storm of 1287 the village was abandoned after the Black Death decimated the population of Romney Marsh. Now all that is left to show the location is a slightly raised bank and the single ruined wall of the church.
