Gigapixel view from the top of Bear Mountain (elev. 5,831') near Bartle, California.  Here one gets a nice view of the endless forests w/ good views of Mt. Shasta & the Klamath Mountains to the west, the Medicine Lake Volcano area to the north, & a glimpse of Lassen Peak to the south.  There is a fire lookout here that is staffed during the summer.  Snow below had made this area inaccessible, making for a long walk up.  I had one brown bear encounter on my descent as well as two other sets of bear tracks, making the mountain appropriate in name.
