224 Mile Rapid
Arizona
Here at river level we get a great view of Diamond Peak. Diamond Peak at 3,512' elevation, lies just east of Diamond Creek and southeast of the Colorado river. It is nearly 18 miles line-of-site from Diamond Peak south to Peach Springs, AZ which is located on historic Route 66. On the peak's south flank lies 224 Mile Creek which is seen here as it winds its way past the peak and into the Colorado River. You can see how the mouth of the creek bed is braided as it creates its outwash delta on the bank of the river.
