The Bureau of Land Management webpage, (https://www.blm.gov/visit/coyote-buttes-north-advanced-lottery-the-wave), states: "Coyote Buttes North (The Wave) and Coyote Buttes South are a small part of the 112,500-acre Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness and have some of the most visually striking geologic sandstone formations in the world." The hike to The Wave can be strenuous. There is deep sand to traverse, and the heat can be tortuous. The beauty and unique sandstone erosional features in the area are breath-taking.
