As the sun began its descent over Brisbane, I found myself at Mount Gravatt Lookout, a popular scenic spot nestled atop the eponymous mountain. The panoramic views from the summit were already stunning, but as the sky transformed into a canvas of vibrant hues — the scene became truly breathtaking. The city skyline shimmered in the fading light, with the distant Glass House Mountains and Moreton Bay adding depth to the horizon.
Families and friends gathered around the picnic tables, sharing the moment, while others captured the spectacle with their cameras. The air was filled with a serene stillness, broken only by the occasional rustle of leaves along the walking tracks that wound through the bushland below. As the final rays of sunlight dipped beneath the skyline, Mount Gravatt Lookout proved to be not just a viewpoint, but a magical place where nature and city life harmoniously converged.
Approximately 14 kilometers (about 8.7 miles) southeast of Mount Coot-tha, Mount Gravatt Lookout offers a different yet equally captivating perspective of Brisbane. While Mount Coot-tha is renowned for its expansive lookout over the city and its extensive botanical gardens, Mount Gravatt Lookout provides a more intimate setting with its unique vistas and natural charm. The drive between these two scenic locations takes about 20 to 30 minutes, allowing visitors to experience the diverse beauty of Brisbane’s landscape.

There are no kangaroos in Austria. We're talking about Australia, the world's smallest continent. That being cleared up, let's dive right in! Australia is a sovereign state under the Commonwealth of Nations, which is in turn overseen by Queen Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God, Queen of Australia and Her other Realms and Territories, Head of the Commonwealth. The continent was first sighted and charted by the Dutch in 1606. Captain James Cook of Britain came along in the next century to claim it for Britain and name it "New South Wales." Shortly thereafter it was declared to be a penal colony full of nothing but criminals and convicts, giving it the crap reputation you may have heard at your last cocktail party. This rumor ignores 40,000 years of pre-European human history, especially the Aboriginal concept of Dreamtime, an interesting explanation of physical and spiritual reality. The two biggest cities in Australia are Sydney and Melbourne. Sydney is more for business, Melbourne for arts. But that's painting in very broad strokes.
