Staffhurst Wood, Surrey, Woodland Pond, Early spring sunshine, May 2016. Located at the edge of an area of ancient woodland. A mix of oak, ash and beech with areas of hornbeam and hazel coppice. The wood has remained continuously wooded since Saxon times. During WWII the entire wood was a massive ammunition dump with gravelled trackways laid to facilate access to the the munitions.
