This is the church which is mentioned in the novel Tess of the d'Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy as there is a plaque on the wall of the church dedicated to the Turberville family. In the novel the d'Urberville family was based on the Turberville family of Bere Regis, Dorset, (Kingsbere-sub-Greenhill).
