Opened in 2009, the Sir Bobby Robson footbridge in Ipswich, links the previously disconnected West Side of the River to the main town area including the Waterfront, Town Centre and Football Ground. Before the bridge was opened, residents in the new buildings on the far side of the river had a considerable walk around to the next nearest bridge crossings. Thankfully the new bridge has made Ipswich town centre far more accessible to those who want to get into the town on foot from the area.
